US Nuclear Energy
Our Open Letter to Our Nations Governors

Dear Governor:

We built a website and developed programs to pro-actively promote the development of nuclear energy in America. Nuclear energy is a safe, high-yield, non-greenhouse emission energy and we need to address it nationwide. “Energy is the driver of all economies” . . . we are all in favor of renewable sources but we also must include nuclear in our energy mix!

Our website has substantial information about our educational mission and our presentations “Bringing Science to Citizens”. As you know, misguidance and misrepresentation of nuclear energy has stalled America’s progress for years and it is only FAIR that we educate our citizens about the truth and safety of nuclear energy and completing the closed spent fuel cycle.

A critical factor for our progress is that we must move the politics of the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Repository in Nevada forward. The science on this 20 year study is in . . . it is “logically” conclusive by a majority of the scientists as a safe repository site for America. All current delays by the State of Nevada are counterproductive to the needs of our country and its clean energy future. Many eastern states have developed good working relationships with nuclear power plants and their overall safety records are the best in the entire energy industry. We must overcome the ill-informed stigma about the truth of nuclear science and use it to compete with world economies.

Please contact Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons and urge him to reconsider the importance of  Yucca Mountain. It is not just a “not in my back yard” Nevada issue, The Yucca Mountain Nuclear Repository is critically important for our states nationwide which need to empty their current temporary nuclear storage and move it to this permanent site in order to extend the licenses and plant updating for current and future operating plants.

Please help us communicate the importance of Yucca Mountain to Nevada’s governor, and your senate and congressional representatives in Washington. A more cost effective energy source for America would help keep our business base “competitive” with the growing world economy, American business needs nuclear and we need the Yucca repository now and for future reprocessing to further close the spent fuel cycle. Please help this initiative.

Sincerely,

Gary J. Duarte, Director
